Love Gone Wrong

Veronica laughed, "This is what I get for being honest with my boss. I dont know, I said I was greedy because I like expensive clothes then saving my money for a hospital. But other then that, I am kind to my patients."

Veronica walked him back inside of the hospital, she looked over and saw Dr. Mcdeam, she smiled at him. She looked back over at Mr. Satnaf when he made a coughing sound to get her attention. "Anyways, you need to stop walking around so much. And Im not doing this again as long as your cuts arnt healed." She walked him back to him room, and helped lay him down.

"I need to put those IV's back in, you should really stop removing them yourself also."

"Yes mother dearest." he said, playfully mocking her. ehe didnt even wince when she replaced the needle.

Cassie came into the room with some paper work inher arms- no doubt things he had requested she bring for him.

She had put the IV back into his hand, leaning over him to do so- giving him a nice upclose look of her revealing v-cut shirt- and nice cleavage. "Im not even old enough to be your mother." She commented, she stood back up stright and walked over to where she'd left the clipboard. She picked up the clipboad as well as her sandwhich, she was still hungry.

"Hello Cassie." Veronica said casually, and took a bite of her sandwhich. "Mr. Satnaf was lonely without you, I had to fill for company." She casually said.

"That or he sent me away to get closer to you." she teased, laughing a bit when she cought the owner blushing. "Im only teasing." she assured them both as she set the papers down.

"I sent him away but your wives lawyer showed up a few minutes ago." she said. "Some of thos papers are rom him."

"I was about to say I try to stay away from married men, but seems Im in luck." She teased, mostly just trying to share a laugh with Cassie. "Anyways, I dont date bosses." She finished up the rest of her sandwhich when her pager went off again, "Well, Im needed elsewhere- I'll be back to check up on you when I can." She told Mr. Satnaf and walked out of the room.

She went down to the emergancy room, where she spent the next seven hours.

Veronica got a bottle of water from the vending machine, and took about three of her pills.

"What are those?" a woman asked behind her.

When she looked it was a woman withshort, almost razored, hair and bright blue eyes. She obviously wasnt a nurse.
A doctor?

"Your shifts up- but youll be on call for the next 24 hours." she said in a very professional tone. "dont let me see you popping pills in my ER again."

"They're anxiety pills, and they're none of your damn business." Veronica snapped at her, she hated being talked down to. Veronica's pager went off and she grumbled as she walked away. She had a throbbing headache, and she was finding the more people she met the more she hated.

Veronica went to Mr. Satnaf's room, she closed the door behind her. "How are you feeling?" She questioned, "Sorry I havent had a chance to come earlier. Busy day in the ER." Veronica picked up the clipboard and walked over to him.

He frowned. "IM sorry- but im glad i got you before you left." he held up a slip of paper. "I would aprehiate it if you spent the night here." he said. "Ill make sure you recive a bonus." he added.

The paper was a letter- written in cursive, most likley by a woman judging by how fluid the writing looked.

"Excuse me?" She raised an eyebrow, "But I've been here since this morning, and sleeping in my office murders my neck." She complained before taking the paper, "Whats this?"

Veronica looked it over, and looked back to Mr. Satnaf. "What sort of bonus?" She now questioned, since this letter seemed to be from his wife. She was going to try and get a ride home from McDeam, and maybe find out his name- but patients came first.

"And am I to stay in the hospital in general or here?"

"Oh, only here of course." he said. "What sort of bonus woudl you like?"

The man seemed anxious- like he haddnt been the previous times she had seen him.

"Can I forget about the bonus and turn this over to the cops?" She questioned, completly serious. she didnt like that Marsha person, and she didnt like her patients being threatened. Deffinatly when she was the reason why he was her patient in the first place. "This is so rediculous. She tried to kill you, failed, and now she's telling you she'll do it again. Does she not believe in divorce?"

Veronica realized she probably shouldnt have blurted that all out- but she'd wanted to say it for awhile now. "Im sorry sir, I know its not my place to say anything. Its just that I just lost someone because of his jealous underage lover-" She stopped there, "I just know this world is better with people like them locked away."

Veronica dropped her clipboard, it made her jolt a bit- she leaned down and picked it up with a slight frown on her face.

"Did you press charges?" he asked frowning. "Untill that boyfriend of hers takes her and leaves- Im afraid to return to my own home." he said lookng to the paper. "I blame him for ruining her...."

"Yeah, she took away the only guy who could actually love me." She laughed lightly, though this was a tender area for her. She seemed to only be trying to open up to him so he'd open up to her. She didnt like this woman being free.

"I guess she was actually planning on killing me too, because I was the only reason they couldnt be together. Lovely, but not so plesent for me. Thats why I transferred. Though I miss L.A."

Veronica shrugged, "But I made sure she was locked away before I left. She was 17, though I didnt pity her. She's old enough to know right and wrong." Veronica set the clipboard aside, "Anyways, why let her have the chance to leave? She's just going to rob you, hell she could possibly take your hospital away. She wouldnt help any of these people here." Veronica frowned at him, "She wouldnt keep this place running."

"she used to be the head nurse here." he said rubbing his chest, frowning at the pinching pain in it. he sighed. "I'll file a police report." he said. "If for some reason the cops have to come to the hospital in reguards to this without a phone call."

Veronica nodded, she'd kept the piece of paper Mr. Satnaf had handed her. She'd put it under some papers on her clipboard. "Have you excused Cassie for the night?" She questioned as she walked over to him, she started to look over the machinry around him.

Veronica looked over at him, "Can you believe I've never had plastic surgery?" She giggled lightly, "No one believed me L.A, but thats because everyone is plastic there." She laughed a bit, more or less to herself. Change of subject. "It was nice though, thats a place you can be whoever you want. Here, well everyone's a gossip it seems. In L.A they have magazines for that, but its all about the stars."

He sighed. "It didnt used to be like that." he said resting his facein his hand. "but beggers cant really be choosers... doctors though- those I chose personaly." he chukled. "Im suprised i havnt heardyou comaplingin about Madem Lanis." he smiled at her. "Shes the only female doctor here besides you- and shes used to having to act rather... i beliee the term is butch to get some respect."

"That must have been that bi-" She stopped herself. She kept forgetting she was still with her boss. "Woman I met earlier." Veronica started to make sure everything was fine with Mr. Satnaf. She helped him sit up, so she could check his reflexes. "Im not a fan. The woman called it her ER, selfish." She smiled lightly, "So why'd you hire me?"

She tapped lightly below his good knee- it reacted. Good.

"You had one of the best resumes ive seen, and you graduated from the same college as me." he admitted. "The ER isnt her, persay, but she is the only doctor designated soul to workin the ER. She works here and at the hospital down the road." he explained.

"Im honestly not fond of people, so I doubt that redeaming quality will help us get along any better." She smiled lightly, "Yeah, I do work my ass off- and because of that most of my complaints I get dont matter. Deffinatly since they're not from patients."

Veronica tapped under his other knee, it was a bit slow to respond- but it was good that he did have a reaction. She stood infront of him, and tested his elbows. And then looked in his mouth, and checked his eye's. "Your healthy, well beside's being half burned." she put her flashlight into her front pocket, and then crossed her arms as she still stood infront of him.

"I am honestly going to miss my bed tonight."

He stoped himsef form a snide remark that almost broke past his lips.

He had almost asked 'your bed huh?' but cought himself.

"I'm sorry." he said. "Also..." he unbuttoned his shirt, showing the gunshot wound. "Ive been having an issue breathing." he said. "Its this or th smokes."

Veronica sighed, "You, sir, are a handful." She leaned in, finished unbuttoning his shirt for him. "You should have complained about this hurting ealier." She walked away and grabbed some of her utensils, and made sure they were clean. She wheeled her tray over to his bedside. She slid on her gloves, and started to clean it out for him.

"Like I said before, smoking isnt doing you any good. You should know this, doctor."

"Are you Mocking me?" he raised an eyebrow. He chukled when she looked at him. "Its an adiction."

"Oh trust me, I know addiction." She laughed, "I struggle with it everyday." She commented as she started to resew him back up. She was close enough for him to be able to tell she smelled quite nice, even though she'd been working all day. Veronica did pride herself on taking care of herself.

"But thats probably one of those subjects you advoid when your talking to your employer."

"normaly." he nodded. "but were all human." he grimiced as she cleaned his chest. he mentaly admitted he liked how she smelt. He himself smelt like some sort or wood. pine or maybe oak. it was a faint smell, no doubt since he was staying in thehospital. but it matched his eyes very well.

Over all, he was as strong as a horse... working as a doctor again might do him some good. it would make him have to cut down the smoking.

"Yeah, but if I want to a theropist with my problems- she'd probably call me a witch. Its not like I sacrafice kittens, but-" She stopped herself and laughed, "Im talking too much. Its probably because I dont have friends here." She shrugged, and put aside the needle. She turned away from him, nice seductive curves her white labcoat formed to them nicely when it was buttoned slightly.

She moved the tray over to the sink, and started to wash the tools off. She removed her gloves, and washed her hands again just out of habit.
