Love Gone Wrong

Veronica's eye's fluttered open, the light was horrible for her eye's- even though it was just the sunrise. She sat up, and moved Cassies hand from her thigh. She grabbed a marker and wrote her number on Cassies hand, and then got up and walked into her bathroom.

"Micheal is so going to bitch about me working today."

--At work...

"Do you enjoy sitting around in my office?" She questioned, raising an eyebrow at him with a smile on her face. "Dont you say a word, I quit drinking when you left- so Im as sober as you. Plus, Im not doing surgerys today." Veronica already knew what he was going to complain about. She'd actually got to know him quite well over the past months.

She sat down at her desk, and slipped off her heels and put on her flats. "And you better have had a taxi drive you home last night."

Kristen came into the room with some papers for Veronica, "Here you go Veronica, these are the updated papers for you to go over." She glanced over at Mr. Satnaf and smiled at him. "Morning."

"Morning... Give us a moment would you?" he asked, dismissing the nurse. once the door was closed he stood up. "Dr.McDeam is comming to work here again." he said, already well aware he was going to get an ear full from her.

Veronica blinked, "What? Why?" She was pouring herself a cup of coffee from her personal coffee maker, she looked from Micheal back to her coffee with a sigh. He was impossible to get rid of before. He still wanted to continue seeing eachother even after he transferred hospitals.

Veronica sighed, and added some creamed to her coffee- and she walked over to Micheal and sat down next to him. "Are you hiring him back? Or is it a favor? Or did you just finally go insane?"

Veronica took a sip of her coffee, and made an 'ahh' sound of happiness.

"The hospital he transfered to contacted me to say that they would be closing their doors in march. Were going to be getting all of their paitents as well- well need the extra hands." he said. "Im ging to be laying out alot of money to add a wing onto this hospital as it is- ill see to it you two never have to see eachother but I need your cooperation with that as well as his." he frowned. "meanig no going over to interogate him or anythign like that."

"He doesnt even know I turned him in, and if he's insane- I dont want to be next on his burn list thank you." Veronica grumbled, now being a bit snappy. She couldnt believe Micheal was going to hire back someone who tried to kill him.

"I feel sorry for you girlfriend, you must worry her to death." She joked with a smile, but she still was aggravated. Veronica had been teasing him for awhile since one of his college girlfriends had moved around here- and kept visting him for lunch to 'talk and get to know eachother again'. "Since you like stressing me, Im not going to stay beautiful for forever. I'll get gray hair."

"Noone stays beauityful for ever." he said and got up. "I already cut it off with ashley- I can smell a gold diger a mile a way." he went to the door. "I would apreshiate it if you concitered me telling you this as a friend, not our boss. Noone else knowsyet- not even the board."

"Oh I'll stay beautiful for forever." She laughed, and ran her fingures through her long dark locks. "You and your friendship." She chuckled, and leaned back. "God I never had this many friends back at home, and the sad part is I still dont have many friends. But more." She stood up, and walked over to her desk and picked up her files to go through.

"I doubt you could keep him away, but I wont do anything stupid or horrible." She giggled, and sat down at her desk- opening up the first file. "Enjoy doctor."

It was rare for michael to be so... solem. It must have been the hang over.

He sighed. "You know, you worry me." he said and left, shaking his head as he closed the door behind him, the good side of his face facing her as it shut.

She blinked, "What? How?" But he'd closed the door on her, that made her frown. She shrugged it off, and started to go over these papers. Her cell phone made a few ding sounds to tell her she recieved a text message.

She picked up her cellphone and opened it up, and smile at the message Cassie had left her for leaving her number on her hand. Though Veronica knew she shouldnt have left her number, it wasnt something she usually did. She just didnt want to be mean to her co worker. She hoped Cassie really didnt like her.

She was fun at least. Veronica thought to herself, and looked up- seeing Amy enter. "Oh hey." She smiled at her, "Whats up?"

--Meanwhile...
-Front desk.

A lady wearing long sleeve shirt, gloves, scarf, full lengh pants, and boots- walked up to the front counter. "Hi." Her voice was quite, she acted timid and shylike. "Uh- I need to see a doctor."

Kristen blinked, "Oh, hey- didnt see you there." She smiled, "Alright, and what seems to be the problem."

"Oh... Uh..." She looked away nervously, and then slowly pulled up her right sleeve. Kristen gasped. Her whole arm was cut and scarred.

"Doctor Satnaf, oh thank God- this lady here- she needs your attention right now." Kristen called over to Micheal, she was so happy she'd spotted him. "She's all cut up."

He blinked and waked over. "All cur up?" he quoted. He gave the woman a reassuring smile. "Alright... Kristin- walk with us to fill out the paper work." he said. "Come on miss, well get you call set strate." he said, offering his hand. the woman looked uneasy- he didnt want her falling over.

The woman looked ghosty, and half starved. She had pulled back down her sleeve and looked to Micheal with uneasiness. She frowned, and looked down at the ground with a nod. "Oh-okay..." She took small steps, but quick one's so she could still keep up with the doctors pace.

Kristen frowned, and fallowed after them with the paperwork.

Amy shrugged. "Im bord." she said. "For once it looks like people are drivin like sane people." she said leanig on the door. "Tonight We should go clubbin."

michael led her to a room and closed the door beihnd the nurse. "Alright, do you need a hand takingyour shiurt off?" he asked. "I need to see your cuts to clean them." he explained so as not to be seen as some sort of pervert as he got a small jar of cotton swabs. he put on a pair of gloves and picked up some paroxide.

Veronica laughed, "I know, its great being in a fully staffed hospital isnt it?" She leaned back in her desk chair, and raised an eyebrow at Amy. "Seriously? I just drank all last night." She glanced up away from her in thought, "Well maybe if you convence me." She laughed.

--Meanwhile...

The lady shifted her look over to Kristen, and then back to Micheal. She shook her head. "I can."

She first removed her gloves, her hands were quite torn up. Next the scarf, visable scars. Then she removed her coat, scars and deep cuts everywhere. She continued by removing her shoe's and socks. Feet torn up. She then took off her shirt, and pants- cuts everywhere. Tears were in her eye's, her face seemed to be the only thing unharmed on her.

She had a sad angelica face, with the ruined body of cruelity.

Michael walked back over to her and smiled kindly at her. "Alright." he said. "Hold your hands out please?"

When she did he gently began to clean her palms, since even with gloves like hers her hands would by far be most liekly to be infected. "What happened?" he asked, knowing kristin would be filling out the paper work silently.

When he didnt get an imediate answer he looked up at her. "You dont have to answer... But if your curious- I got my scars form my wife." he said.

Amy crossed her arms. "You went out and didn' invite me? Veronica- Im hurt."

"I totally talked about it during lunch, Micheal and Cassie even showed up." Veronica shrugged, "Alright, alright- I'll go out with you tonight." Veronica smiled, "But your paying for shots."

--Meanwhile...

Her eye's stared at the floor til Micheal stepped closer, she froze- and slowly looked up. She blinked, and slightly cocked her head to the side. "Wife...?" She said in a whisper. "My daddy says-" She whispered lightly, "That Im bad."

Kristen bit her lip, and was actually trying to hold back tears. That was so horribly heartbreaking.

"I got out. I needed help..."

He smiled. "Ill help you." he promiced. "Whats your name?" he asked. "im michael." he said clowly cleaning up her wrists and arms. he was good at what he did.
His green eyes stayed on hers, ever stedy and reassuring. He did what a doctor was suposed to do... not only treat- but cared... really truly cared.

Veronica gathered the files she needed, and her clipboard- she got up and walked past Amy smacking her butt. "Sexual harassment." She teased.

She walked down the hall, and looked at her list of patients. She had several that were ready to go home, and several that were getting sicker. She thought out what could possibly be wrong with the 18 year old that came in a few nights ago. She didnt have an STD, or cancer- but something was eating away at her immune system.

--Meanwhile...

"Cara." She replied softly. She could only look at someone for only so long, before looking away back to the ground. It was like she was affraid of eye contact. She didnt flinch or even whine about Micheal cleaning her cuts. It seemed like the poor child was used to pain, and that was very apparent.

She looked down at her feet, "Why did your wife hurt you?" She asked after a time of silence.

"She didnt want me." he said. "so she tried to get rid of me." he explained. "I finally left her though- so she didnt hurt me anymore."

It wasnt a total lie.

He carefully wrapped up her arms and hands with gauze. "Look." he took off his gloves and unbuttoned his shirt to show her the still pink gunshot wound. "Shot in the chest and burnt and IM still here with a smile." he said. He closed his shirt. "How old are yoU Cara?"

The 18 year old was sleeping in her bed, having been resding a book which was currently layn out on her lap.

"Daddy didnt want me either." She said lightly, "I dont know how old I am. I dont get birthdays. I think Im 16." She didnt look 16, but whatever her daddy had done to her had stunted her growth. She had the body of a preteen- and a malnurished homeless person.

"Its hard to keep count." She said lightly, still staring down at her feet.

--Meanwhile...

Veronica walked into Stacy's room, and closed the door behind her. "How are you feeling today Stacy?" She asked, looking at her clipboard- seeing what the other doctors had sugguested and what the nurses were doing involving Stacy.

"Do you feel like your still getting worse?"

He nodded. "Its alright." he said. "Cara, are you hungry?" he asked. as he cleaned her shoulders and collar bone.

"Yes. I dont get to eat somedays." She said quitely, she stared down at the ground. The clothing she was wearing earlier had make her looked a bit older, but thats because they were older clothes. Most likely what she had to steal from her mother.

She shook a bit because she was so skinny, and its was exhausting to keep holding her arm out.

Kristen frowned, and kept writing stuff down. She was glad the girl had somehow escaped her home, and came to them. If these cuts wernt cleaned in time, she could have died from infection. But she observed all of the deep scarring she had undernethed the cuts- that they would have been cleaned and healed. And then done again.

"kristin," michael looked over at her. "Do me a favor and go get a hot bowl od soup for Miss Cara- some soda crackers and some tea as well." he said, never once pausingin his work. He went as gently as he could, moving her arm so she could hold it down now. "Im going to have you lay down now so I can clean the cuts on your chest." he said. "Is that alright Cara?"

She nodded, and moved over to the bed- and laid down in it slowly. She stared up at the ceiling.

Kristen nodded, and set aside the notes she was taken as she left the room. She went stright to the cafeteria and got some soup, crackers, and tea. While she was waiting, she spotted veronica. "Oh hey." She smiled lightly, feeling a bit shakey after just seeing that girl.

Veronica walked over to her, and looked at her with concern. "Are you okay? You look pale." Veronica pointed out, she crossed her arms.

"There's this girl that came in, she's a young teen- and she has cuts and scars all over her body. Dr. Satnaf is taking care of her. But its just horrible. I guess her father did that to her."

Veronica blinked, "God."

"I know." Kristen recieved the tray of food, "I'll talk to you later." She went back to the room with the tray, and set it by the bedside so Cara could sit up and eat while the doctor cleaned her cuts up. "Here Cara, here's a spoon." She smiled, and helped her sit up.

Michael looked over and then back to cara to continue his work. he had already paged the police- they woudl be waiting in his office when he finished there.

"Kristin I would like you to take person charge over Cara for now." he said. "I have the majority of er cuts cleaned enough for now." he took off his gloves and threw them away. "When I come back I exspect there to be everythign I need to give a proper peroxide sponge bath. Im going to call St.Jodes, see if anyone there is fimilar with deep tissue scarring."

Kristen nodded, and helped Cara eat her soup and crackers. The girl tried to eat it quickly, but Kristen was affraid she'd choak. "I wont take it away, eat slowly." Kristen encouraged with a smile.

Cara paused, and watched as Micheal left. She then started to eat again, letting Kristen spoon feed her.

--That night.

The parents of Cara couldnt be found, and they couldnt even find records of her being born. Most likely her mother gave birth to her at home, and never even register the child.

Veronica was getting ready to leave, "Im off, you as well?" She questioned Amy. "Im so ready to go out."
