The hangged man

Nied unlocked the door, and stepped into his empty house. He frowned, and locked the door behind him. He didnt even know if he was scared of whatever wanted him- but he knew he deffinatly didnt want to end up like his mother. He lived in a poor nieghborhood, all he could afford while he was supporting his mother- and working at a music shop.

He threw his keys aside onto the counter, and pulled out some leftovers to heat up. He looked up, and at his kitchen window the black cat sat outside of the window staring at him. "So what do you want?" He grumbled, "Are you the bad guy or some protector?" He picked off a piece of meat from the turkey he was heating up- and opened the window a crack and slid it out.

The cat looked from him to the meat, and devoured it hungryly like a stray would.

Nied shruged, what was the worse this cat could do to him? If he was going to die, he was going to die. He opened the window, and let the cat jump in onto the counter. "Make yourself at home- it might not even be mine for much longer." He commented as he left some meat out and went into the living room.

kath lit u another cigerette, letting the smoke fill her corrner of the room...

"Black cat huh...." she closed her eyes and leaned her head back. "How unoriginal." she complained, tapping her foot in the air. She stoped dead when she hit somethign soild and opened one eye looking down.

Two eyes stared up at her from sheer darkness.

Her heart skipped a beat and it was gone.

She got up and put out the cigerette and looked around. "No way.... it didnt FOLLOW him here...." she looked at her watch. "hes only been gone an hour..." she looked outside at the setting sun and frowned.

".... Great." she sighed, grabbing her bag. "Now im playing nanny."

She got outside and hessitated, going back inside. she threw up in the garbage disposal, shuddered then left, not locking behind her.. why should she? even demons know it was tabboo to mess with a tarot shop...

The cat finished up the turkey, and licked at the bone before it decided to fallow him into the living room.

Nied leaned back in his chair- the tv was turned up loudly. He glanced at the cat, and then looked back at the tv. Nothing interesting was on, so he switched it over to the music channle. Music was about the only thing he really did like. "I cant believe my own mother pretty much damned me." He grumbled, and looked back at the cat. "Some mother she was..."

He heard something, and the cat began to hiss. He stood up, and crossed his arms- frowning. "Whats wrong?" He got the chills, and bit his lip as he walked towards the kitchen. The cat growled and hissed, hair standing up. "Can you sense it?"

Kath knelt down on the side walk as people passed, some pausing to see what she was going as she tossed a few stones.

"North huh..." she picked them up and began jogging.

At the corrner of the next city block and did it again.

"east." she frowned. "How far does that kid live anyway?" she swore- headded off, unaware of all the odd stared she was getting.

People... they acted like they never saw someon walk arudn bear foot before.

[XD I would play the cat.... but i suck at playing animals XD thus why none of my charies ever had pets....]

Nied grumbled and put his hands onto his head- his hair being messed up in the process- but like that mattered. He never did his hair anyways. "This stupid headache is coming back..." He felt lightheaded as pain throbbed, he remembered getting headaches like this when he was a child- why was he remember this now? How long had his mother been obsessed with the occult? Too long.

Someone knocked on his door rather kurtly.

The temputure in the house rose imediatly back to normal- what ever had been in the kitchen fleeing.

Hard to believe just a knock scared it off... It had to have been who ever cause the knock.

Kathy stood shivering slightly. Stupid cold.... stupid no shoes...

*If he doesnt answer this door Im calling it quits* she desided, havving gotten two wrong houses thus far.

Nied snapped out of it, he frowned and walked through the kitchen and to the front door. He glanced through the peephole and was surprised to see her. He unlocked the door, and opened it up- seeing she was cold he stepped aside for her to come in. "Where are your shoes?"

The cat fallowed him into the kitchen, and rubbed aginst his leg.

"Shoes are over rated." she said waving a hand. "... I thought you didnt like the cat following you." she looked at him oddly.

She switched gears. "And YOU brought what ever is after you into MY shop." she said poking his chest.

She could poke hard.

"Are you sure you never took part in your mothers little rites?" she asked susspiciously. "Theres no wat a demon can track you as quickly and as precicly as that thing did unless its connected to you."

"It was hungry." He simply said, and crossed his arms. "Why would I have anything to do with this stuff when I dont even know anything about it? Like I said, my mother was insane." He grumbled, "She'd lock herself in her room all day, and self harm herself as she drew all over the walls in blood- until our father left us and she insisted we move... Seriously, why would I help her out? I couldnt even have real silverwear around for fear she'd cut herself- let alone I couldnt leave her alone for very long ever."

He seemed stressed talking about this, "But she dint do anything crazy in this house- she stopped drawing on the walls after my father left. She just started using candles and reading strange books in some language I dont even know." He explained, "I really dont know the half of it." He closed the door, and locked it- even if she didnt plan to stay for long- he didnt live in a good nieghborhood. It was never safe to leave the door unlocked.

The cat mewed, and stared up at them with big green wide eye's. It closed them, and started to pur- and rub up aginst Kath now.

She picked the cat up, petting it with a frown. "Do you still have those books?" she asked. "And where was she reading? More over- why didnt you mention that sooner?" she titched.

"I just kicked your demon pal in the face- im fairly sure that puts me on its shit list." she added/

Nied felt a bit annoyed, "I already told you, I dont know anything about this crap- and its not like I know what helps and what doesnt..." He grumbled as he walked away from her, not making any notion for her to fallow- he just went into the living room. "I threw out most of her clothes and shit cause its not like I need it... But here's a box of her books and what not I hadnt throw away yet." He kicked it out from the corner- and picked up a book that had a pentagon on it.

"Like I have any use for this crap."

The cat mewed, almost as if it was agreeing with him. It lept out of her arms- and jumped up onto the couch. It was indeed making itself at home.

She walked over and took it form him, opening it and flipping through the pages.

Nied sat down onto the couch, and leaned back. "So whatever this thing is, it can be destoryed right? Or banished- or whatever you people call it." He started to pet the cat that rubbed up aginst his thigh, and tried to move onto his lap- but he more or less pushed him off. He didnt want the cat all over him.

"Cause if its pointless, then whats the point in trying?"

Kathean frowned and closed the book. "First off- dont include me in the same catagory as your mother. IM a physcic- I dont do witch craft." she said putting the book down. "Secondly, I dont know if you can get rid of this thing- were in 2009, no need to talk like were in the dark ages."

She picked up another book and flipped through it. "But I think its safe to say were both on the hit list- so we should research it further."

"I wasnt saying your insane, I was mearly saying you know more about this then I do. Anyways- I cant exactly read whatever is in those books." He breathed out, sounding annoyed- he obviously didnt like to say he was sorry- hence why he didnt say 'sorry'. He ran his hand along the cats back as it purred, and then looked back to her. "So how exactly did you find me anyways?" He questioned, now he was curious as to how she'd found his home.

She was odd, and of course very differant- and he picked up on that right away. He glanced at the tv, and commercial for the supernatural was on, playing cheesey music- and obviously fake pictures. Nied then looked back to Kath, and raised an eyebrow, "And do you normally go running off to people's home's you've just met?" It seemed he was teasing her, which was something he didnt do much. To go out of his way to even start a converstation was odd for him.

"Only when they track mud into my home." she said passivly- refering to the demon she had kicked in the head.

She looked over. "I used these." she reached into her pocket pulling out 5 small stones. "They lock onto what ever spiritual powers i tell them so and tell me where to go." she dropped them on the floor to show him.

They rattled around rolling before finaly falling still, forming a small arrow pointed directly at him.

"Theyre a bit old... Did you know I tried three houses before I actuly got the right one?" she picked them up, putting them away.
She looked at the Tv and sat down, picking up another one of her books. "If the signel cuts in and out- you canblame me." she said. "Electronics dont care much for me."

He raised an eyebrow at her as she displayed the rocks, and they pointed to him. That was odd. He'd never seen something like that before. He breathed out, and rubbed the back of his neck. "Im gussing Im going to see alot of things I've never seen before from now on..." He mummbled, and leaned back as the cat mewed at him- as if it was agreeing.

"What do you think she was trying to call to- or summon? You really think she was to bring distruction and death?" He questioned, knowing she didnt know his mother- but she seemed to be able to read the books he had no idea what was in them.

"Its wierd- because if you met her you would have thought she was perfectly fine. But if you got to know her- then she would scare people away."

"People feel fear for one reason. Its an instinct that were given." she turned a page. "When you ignore that sence of fear is when you are in danger... It more often than not leads to your death." she stated as she chewed on her thumb nail. "These books are all pretty indepth. I woudl say you need at least 30 years of sucessful practice to even attempt sumoning someonting form the never never... I highly doubt your mother was skilled enough."

she sighed and put it down. "most likely she was playing with fire and got burned." she looked to her son. "She may hve thought this would get back at your father- show him she wasnt insane by bringing a demon out of hell and to his door step. Its not unheard of.... Just very stupid and selfish."

"So if she did summon something, why wont it go back? I mean, it killed her- why is it after people who wernt even involved? I wasnt even around, I was at work- and I came home to find-" He stopped, and breathed out. "Well her, just- shreadded."

He stroaked the cat, and then crossed his arms- glancing at the tv. It fizzed a bit, and the picture returned to normal. He picked up the remoat and changed the channle, he didnt want to hear them talking about ghost anymore. He stopped changing the channles when he came to the rock station on tv- and let it play some classical rock Led Zepplin.

"I hate to be the barer of bad news- but im not a demon phoycologist. How should I know why its after you? What matters is we know it is... Maybe it smelt you here in the house and liked it." she looked over jokingly.

Outside the sun had finished setting.

"For now- do you have any board games? Like life or manopoly?" she asked. "Well have to stay awake untill the chaple opens in the morning."

weird... Didnt churches group physcicsand withches into the same catagory? How would she possibly be welcome at one?

He thought for a moment, as if he was unsure. "Let me check." He got up, and walked down the hall where there was a closet. He opened it up, and searched through it. "Ah-" He made a sound, and brought back an old box that had 'sorry' on it. "My grandmother must have left it."

He set it down on the coffee table, "Dont ask me how to play it, I havent played any games since I was like 5." He commented, and sat back down on the couch. What sort of life had this guy lived?

"Well, the instructions shoudl still bein it." she reasoned opening the box. she opened the board and layed it down.

she pushed some hair behind her ear and picke dup the folded paper, reading it over.

She didnt question him about his life style. she had no need... for one- she didnt care... for anther- if she really wanted she could look.

"By the way, sicne you do seem fairly.... uneducated about anythign abnormal- do you know what telepathic means?" she asked, taking out the little tear drop shaped peaces.

"Means you can read minds right? Something like that. I dont know." He shruged, and continued to stroak the cats back. "I never was interested in this sort of thing, obviously because my mother used it as an excuse to hurt herself and others around her. There was no need for me to get mixed up in it."

He leaned forwards, and picked up the red piece. "So whats the point of this game?"

"You start here and have to go around the board to home..." she stared at it. "Why cant we just got 3 spaced to the left and go that way?" she looked back to the paper.

Something like that. she said. Her lips didnt move as she spoke, still seeming to read the rules.

"Im guessing because that takes away the fun in it." He didnt sound too excited, but then again he never did. He glanced at her as she said that, "So how'd you end up like that?" He questioned, "Being able to throw rocks magically, and speak without speaking?" He questioned, the occult didnt interest him- but she did.

He placed his piece on the board on the 'red base', and moved the other red pieces to that spot as well.
